About Tromso
Tromso lies well north of the Arctic Circle, on an island linked to the mainland by a long bridge. Across the bridge stands the Arctic Cathedral, its stepped white triangle visible from the town; the cable car behind it climbs to a view over the islands.
From late September to March the northern lights are often visible on clear nights, and from late May to late July the sun does not set. In the darkest weeks of winter the sun stays below the horizon, and the light at midday is blue.
